Automatic Driving Lessons Norwich
For many learners, automatic cars are an easier choice due to fewer gears to worry about. NxtGen Driving Academy offers expert tuition in automatic vehicles, designed to help you easily pass your driving test.
Why choose Automatic Driving Lessons?
Manual vehicles can be complex to get used to driving and sometimes can feel very overwhelming for learner drivers. With an automatic car, there are fewer things to get your head around, and learner drivers often find it easier to learn how to drive an automatic first. It can help learners learn road safety without worrying about gears and finding the biting point.
Alternatively, if you have been used to driving a manual vehicle and have a license but would like to learn how to operate and drive an automatic car, we can help.
Please note that if you gain your automatic driving license, you will not be allowed to drive a manual car legally. If you would like the flexibility of being able to legally drive an automatic or a manual vehicle now or in the future, you will need to pass your manual driving test to gain your manual license.
Quick Tip: If you’re unsure whether to learn manual or automatic, consider your personal preferences and future driving needs. Automatic lessons are typically easier, but learning to drive a manual car can offer more flexibility in the long run.

Driving around Norwich: What you’ll learn
Norwich is a lovely city to learn to drive in. It has everything you’ll need to help you become a confident and safe driver: city centre, suburban areas, dual carriageways and on the outskirts rural roads too.
City Centre driving in Norwich
Learn to navigate a one-way system with ease in Norwich city centre. Get to grips with narrow city streets populated by pedestrians and cyclists in Tombland or gain experience in congested traffic and traffic signals on St Stephen’s Street.
Suburban Roads in Norwich
Further afield, in Eaton, Hellesdon or Thorpe St Andrew, you can learn on quieter suburban streets. These areas are particularly good for learning manoeuvres such as 3-point turns, parking and emergency stops. You will also encounter traffic control systems, speed limits, mini roundabouts, cyclists and pedestrians.
Major Roads & Dual Carriageways
Once you’ve gained confidence, you can take advantage of the major roads circling the city such as the A47, A140, the Northern Bypass and the Ring Road. This will help you learn to drive on a dual carriageway, which is essential for when you pass your test and are allowed on the motorway.
Rural Roads and Driving Conditions
Locations outside the city, such as Bawburgh Road, Norwich Road towards Brundall and Coltishall Road offer you the experience of learning on narrow rural roads with farm traffic, animals and other hazards you may not encounter in the city.
